Iran tests Russian anti-aircraft system successfully

Iran announced that it had successfully tested the anti-aircraft system received from Russia several weeks ago, reported ISNA news agency.


Revolutionary Guards began a large scale military maneuver aimed at "strengthening their defense capabilities," said Iranian sources.

This does not look TOR-M1 that was sent to Iran. The Iranian Version is totaly different, perhaps is the downgraded version. AS far as I know the Iranian Version carry's the Missile on the TOP not in the PAY-Load like the Russian's.

Iran tests modern air defense shield
Tehran, Feb 7, IRNA - The Iranian armed forces tested a modern air defense shield dubbed as TORM1, Commander of the Air Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier-General Hossein Salami said on Wednesday. The IRGC Navy and Air Force started military exercises in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman on Wednesday.

Salami said that the specialized military exercise code-named 'Saeqa' has been designed to boost air defense and counter-attack in the face of any possible offensive against Iranian airspace.
He said that the new generation of missile systems have been employed to boost defensive and deterrent capability of the country.
Salami said that TORM1 has a 12 km range which can be increased to 20 km, adding that the air defense shield is capable of rapidly tracing down 47 targets and engaging with eight objects simultaneously.
He said that employing several units of the air defense shield will help protect airspace from hostile action. Salami said that TORM1 air defence shield is capable of tracing down modern Cruise missile. The military exercises in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman will continue on Thursday

I am confused because I am not sure that the Video that was released by Iran is the Iranian TORM1 in action. You don't see any Iranian personnels around it for monitoring it. The Picture that was posted in Payvand news, was released by Iran. So you can see where my confusion comes from.

The image that you posted of the vehicle with the missiles on the outside is the SA-11 GADFLY. Don't trust news agencies for accurate images.

The video that the Iranians have released are NOT of the recent launches. This footage is Russian and has been available for some time now.
You can see the same footage here and posted long before the Iranians received the Tor deliveries. Note the Russian Guards badges on the vehicles and the 9 series numbers on the sides. Another case of don't believe media at first value.

Wikipedia is not a very reliable source of info. Anyone can post an image and make claims. Did you check out the video at the time set of 04:36. It could easily be a still from the Middle East demo from few years ago that someone has posted onto Wkiipedia. Did the image appear recently in any of the Iranian News Agencies?

Follow the thread. It isn't hard! It isn't about the fact that the Iranians have the Tor now in their inventory. That is undisputed.

The video and pictures were published claiming that they were Iranian. They were obviously not. It's called attention to detail. If you are happy to simply accept innaccurate media then more fool you.

That could be the case. All the Iranian TORM1 Video and Pictures are not Iranian. If you look at the Video again, you will see English Letters and Numbers on all TORM1, which is against Iranian Numbering. Also, the paint scheam are not Iranian match. So Iran have obtain the TORM1 Air Defence system but have not released any pictures or Video of it.

Debka isn't a wholly reliable source. Such a sale would be acknowledged by the Russian Defence Minister. To meet their need Iran would have to buy a lot of these units and such a sale would be excellent news for the Russian defence industry. Debka have made numerous claims, sadly most of them made up. Until the news breaks from the Russian defence exporter or Defence Minister then I'm afraid it is just another 'Debka' claim.
