ASIAN Composites Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (ACM), which supplies parts for aircraft maker Boeing, expects between RM70 million and RM100 million in added revenue during the next five years, thanks to a new contract to supply wing parts for the Boeing 777 aircraft.

ACM general manager Dr Nazily Mohd Noor said the company will start producing fixed leading edge components for Boeing early next month.
The first delivery to the assembling plant in Austria will be carried out three weeks later. ACM signed the deal with Boeing recently.

He said ACM invested RM25 million to purchase composite-making equipment which will be used to manufacture fixed leading edge for the Boeing 777 Dreamliner aircraft.

"The investment will also prepare ACM for future contracts," said Dr Nazily after signing a memorandum of understanding for a practical technical training programme between ACM and the Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre (Kismec) in Alor Star.
Kismec was represented by its chief executive officer Wan Ismail Wan Ibrahim. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid witnessed the signing.

"ACM is confident of expanding. My visits to Europe have been fruitful and we find that the aeronautic industry booming," Dr Nazily said.

He said ACM took proactive measures to develop skilled human capital in the composite aircraft sector and purchasing of equipment.

ACM's components for the B737 contributes to 63 per cent of the company's revenue.

ACM is an alliance between Sime Darby Bhd, Naluri Bhd and Boeing and Hexcel Corp.
The company has 520 workers, all Malaysians. ACM expects to increase its workforce to 600 by the year end.
