Iran builds new naval destroyer

TEHRAN, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Iran on Thursday launched a naval destroyer production line in a factory at the Anzali port in the northern part of the country.

The Islamic Iranian News Agency (IRNA) said the Minister of Defense General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar attended the ceremonial inauguration of the plant.

The destroyer wieghs 1420 tons and powered by a 20,000 horse-power engine with a 30 knots speed capability.

The destroyer is equipped with surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, anti-air defenses and sophisticated electronic war systems, IRNA noted. (end) mw.

به گزارش خبرگزاري فارس به نقل از اداره كل تبليغات دفاعي وزارت دفاع، ناوشكن 1420 تني موج 2 با قدرت موتور 20000 اسب بخار و سرعت 30 گره دريايي قابليت حمل بالگرد، انواع موشك*هاي سطح به سطح و سطح به هوا، توپ*هاي پيشرفته، توپ ضد هوايي، سيستم اژدر افكن و مجهز به سيستم جنگ الكترونيك است.
در آيين بهره برداري از خط توليد ناوشكن موج 2 سردار سرتيپ نجار وزير دفاع و پشتيباني نيروهاي مسلح طي سخناني با تبريك اين موفقيت دستاورد بزرگ به محضر فرماندهي كل قوا و ملت شريف و بزرگوار ايران اسلامي از آن به عنوان نماد ديگري از خود باوري و خود اتكايي فرزندان مومن و متخصص خميني و خامنه*اي عزيز ياد كرد.
وزير دفاع تصريح كرد: خط شكنان سلحشور عرصه هشت سال دفاع مقدس با خلاقيت و نوآوري، پيشتاز تحريم شكني، تهديد شكني و توسعه و پيشرفت كشور هستند.
نجار طراحي و ساخت انواع شناورهاي نظامي و غير نظامي و پيشرفتهاي شگرفي كه در اين زمينه رخ داده است را محصول پژوهش محوري، نخبه گرايي در وزارت دفاع دانست و تاكيد كرد؛ تامل و همكاري تنگ تنگ صنايع دفاعي وزارت دفاع با دانشگاهها و مراكز علمي كشور به عنوان يك راهبرد سازنده به روند خودكفايي و خود اتكايي در صنايع دفاعي شتاب بيشتري بخشيده است.
وزير دفاع با تجليل از تلاش خلاقيت و نوآوري متخصصان هوشمند و اقتدار آفرين صنايع دريايي شهيد تمجيدي، از اين صنعت به عنوان يكي از نمادهاي قدرت، همت، هوشمند و اقتدار صنايع دفاعي ياد كرد.
نجار در بخش ديگري از سخنان خود با تبيين شرايط حساس سياسي و امنيتي منطقه و اقدامات خصمانه و تحريك آميز دشمنان اظهار داشت: جمهوري اسلامي ايران به زعم دشمنان با يك ديپلماسي فعال و آرام مبتني بر متانت، هوشمندي، اقتدار خرد و عقلانيت ضمن خنثي سازي نقشه*ها و حيله*هاي گوناگون دشمنان خواسته*هاي به حق مردم كشورمان را تحقق خواهد بخشيد.
وزير دفاع در پايان با گراميداشت ياد و خاطره شهيدان و سرداران شهيد خطه قهرمان پرور استان گيلان تصريح كرد: ملت بزرگ ايران هيچگاه خاطره جانفشاني و حمايت مالي و معنوي آنان را در دوران دفاع مقدس فراموش نخواهد كرد.

To all Iranians, being late is something Natural. Invite them to dinner, at 6:00 PM, they will show up by 8:00 PM. Invite them to go on a vacation trip, and ask them to be ready by 9:00 AM, they will show up by 2:00 PM. I think it is in Iranian Blood or for some reasons, From the TOP to the Bottom, they think is OKAY to be Late on anything. My thoughts only.

It's a bit too Offtopic but about your point:

Last year when I was In Iran, we agreed with my aunt(Tehran resident) to go to Mashhad per train. Well we agreed to be at 15:30 at Central station to take the 17:00 train. Well guess what, they showed up at 17:01 just watching and waving at us.

Eventually all came good as they rented a Taxi from Tehran to Semnan with precondition he won't mis the train. They made it to Seman on time and the prise? just a bit less than 22 euro. :D Amazing.

the reason for the delay was the electoronics and systems on the destoryer. they ordered the the electornics systems and other stuff from other countries and that got delayed.

My Question to any one that can answer it is: why they launched the factory or assembly line in north of Iran (Capian Sea) and not in Persian Gulf? was it because the destroyer is not sufficient enough to counter any persian gulf country or for some other reasons?.

Your questioned puzzeled me for a bit but I think of the following reason:

In the Caspian sea there are now different players so there is a need for naval boast ups. In the south they can buy ships from different actors. In the North there is no such luxury.

because this destoryer will patrol caspian sea and not persian gulf. just wanted to add that this is wave-2. wave one is already operational.

You forgot OIL.Gas and lot's of other regional interest while the Caucasus is nearby and it one of the possible future hot spot.

But with a weight of 1400t it’s not to be classified as a destroyer, its more a small corvette.

The ship is too small to be a destroyer.

i think they deserve a round of applause, congratulations to the iranian military, ministery of defence, designers, engineers and labourers for their hard work and effort, iran can be proud that they are only a few nations capable of building their own military hardware/software industries, soon maybe they will be sellers rather than buyers of most other things.

Its all part of the 20 year vision plan to maximise self-sufficiency and every year were are getting closer and closer towards our goal. Western powers can make it difficult but cant stop us.

Yeah so true..Not only the military Industry but also every other industry..when it was sanctioned in the Aviation industry it came up with the Iran-140..And same with the Auto,Rail industry.
