Project spokesman Majid Heidari Mourche Khorti told FNA that the vessel, which has passed 700 hours of operational tests and has been used in the recent 'Great Prophet' war games, has already establish its capabilities in comparison with foreign rivals.
The submarine is an advanced military vessel with various operational performances proper for the environmental conditions of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, he added.
The design and production projects have been carried out by Iranian scientists and researchers of Malik-e Ashtar Industrial University and Subsurface Research Center within a period of 10 years and in compliance with the needs of the Iranian army, the spokesman said.
Resources of over 49 academic, research and industrial centers as well as 70 scientific articles have been used during the design and production process, he further pointed out.
Stating that the home-made wale-class submarine is now ready to join the army fleet, he said that it is a vessel appropriate for the shallow and salty waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

exactly they can't bomb Iranian's brain and knowledge
Any info on abilities and capabilities yet? Cost etc. Is it reversed engineered of completely original make up? Fairly damn impressive to have one built in 10years from scratch. What are the plans for production?

The news of this Sub was out back in July of last year. But the data regarding it's capability is still secret. It is smaller than killo but bigger than the last sub that was launched in late November.

I am amazed by Iran's advancement in naval capabilities. Its's unbelievable!
If they can have a dozen of these boats patrolling the Hormuzgan armed with the 3m-54E's or the SS-N-21, then no USN or any ship can enter or leave the Gulf!

I will bet it is smaller than Killo. The Picture that you see on the first post MAY not represent the actuall NAHANG (wale) class submarine. The picture was posted on the news site, and they usualy post a picture with any story and that picture could be from the data file.

If IRAN made this this is LEAPS in tecnology.
I want to know certain things,
1> IRans expertise in power plant
2> Chip making factory in Iran is there? like each MFD's you use counts, GaS chips etc etc???
3> Torpedo?
If seriously IRan has made its ow submarine from scratch to everything Irans navy is grossly underestimated then.
I have doubts over this being made form scratch...
maybe upgradation of a old sub?

Answer for 1- Iran does have a lot of experties in power plants, but the power plant for these subs, MAY not have been built in Iran.
Anwer for 2- Iran started Making it's "FIRST HOME MADE CHIP" in 1981. I was in university when the news came out. At the moment, Iran does make a lot of different Semiconductor Chips, actually Iran have many patents in Semiconductor in recent years. All electronics are designed and made in Iran. Iran actually export a lot of Computer (PC) Mother boards, and chips. Recently the announced that they are making X586 Processors in Iran. Still far away from dule core Intel processors but they are one of hand full countries in the world that are making Processors.
Answer for 3- Iran is building it's own Torpeado for it's Subs. The Manufacturing line was opened in 2005. They are building several different versions.

So what you are saying is that you have stats that shows the fact that muslims are idiots and have no brain power? You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see that a great nation like usa is so afraid of islam that they create instability in the region. Conclusively 'the crisis of islam' as a propaganda to justify the killing of thousand children in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Do you really believe that it does have to do with the brain power or the greediness of western nations??? you tell me that!!

i dont say they;r idiots.... the general population is uneducated ... isnt it ?
muslim nations right now are not in any way capable to fight a war with a super power... however, what they can do is stand against and squeeze certain concessions ....
unity: of which our religion is based .... isnt in muslims... no doubt arabs call themselves arabs first then muslims. ...
and if all this doesnt quench ur thirst when muslims were in power then did the same ... i am judging by anyway ... but this is how world works empire rise and falls ... and america(not christendom) is on a collision course with islam.

That USA is on a collision course with islam is no secret. Maybe the population that is uneducated should be educated some time in the future. Let me remind you that during Iran-Iraq war all the "well educated" people ran away with their tails between their legs whilst the "uneducated" people as you call them, stod their ground and saved our country from an arab take over!!! Never forget that, nor will anybody else!!!

Secondly, I'm not Iranian - but I think the Iranians are very bright. I've studied with them in the UK, and they always get top grades. They always do well for themselves in Europe, as I' sure you're aware they are very active in California and influential in US politics.
I admire Iranian people greatly - They built up an impressive defence sector in just 20 years while being sanctioned. So you can carry on spewing your hate because that's all you're good for AND IT IS PATHETIC, but hey, carry on...knock yourself out, won't hurt the Iranian people...

I Like you man....we need more people like you :wub2:

the people u guys are talking about are like 0.00001% of the population.....
education lacks in muslim countries...severely...and that is the reason i believe the marriage of islam with secularism has been a tragedy.

As you can see from the Video, it is bigger than Midget Sub, but at least half the size of Killo Class Sub. That was my impression.
Yeah it looks tiny, what’s it for? Testing or will actually be added to the navy for defence? What does it fire?

It is probably cargo submarine. It will be used to import weapons to Iran secretly. It can go to Syria undetected, even further with refuling possibility.

there is one problem with this use this subs cant go under land only underwater so there is no import from syria unless iran want to send them through baqdad and under some dam to syria

Lets not carry away with our imagination. It could hurt the true judgement. This sub and any other subs that Iran have made is nothing but learning stages and learning how they can fit them with other technologies.
If you think about it; first US sub was built in mid 1800, yes Mid 1800 before US civil war. So they are over 150 years head of Iran in Design and manufacturing of Submarine. Lets not carried away because it is Iranian then it must be good.
To be honest with you, Iranian's are very smart, good designers, but they love to cut corners.
Just wait afew more years and you will see new designs from Iran.
Iran has been making Zolfaghar Tank for over 20 Years now, but still in Research and Development, and Tank is alot simpler than Submarine. Just a thought.
One last note. Iranian represenetive like to EXAGERATE a little more than usual. There is nothing wrong with that, but as long as they Deliver.

If ancient people could travel from Europe to America on wooden made boats I do not see why Iran submarines would not go to Syria or any other country, even North Korea. What you need is refueling which can be organized on sea, by some small ship, or simply some ship can throw fuel containers into sea on submarine route with GPS locator installed on container. They can go under some boat in order to stay undetected. In fact, they do not have to go so far, they just need to go to the Ocean and pick up weapons loaded containers. For example, twenty tones of solid rocket fuel is very important. Or some vital parts of weapons, homing heads, electronic, guidance, strategic materials, composites, etc. Small quantities of this would allow Iran to have secret weapon stocks. You know, when you have factory, you must keep statistics, and you never can protect that data. The enemy would always know what you have. But if you have secret production facilities, with people which ideology is coming of Mahdy and which will never trait what they do, then you can hide some thinks. Israel – Lebanon conflict shown just this, that huge army can be secretly built. They knew about Hezbollah weapons, but they did not know tenth part of true Hezbollah power and this is only because people included are driven by strong ideology. So you can go to Syria through Mediterranean Sea, it is long way, but you can do that if you want.
