Experts of Malek Ashtar Industrial University have made a breakthrough in the field of measuring water depth by designing and producing the new laser system.
The system is capable of three-dimensional underwater videotaping, identifying marine life and water pollutants, and measuring physical characteristics of the sea such as salinity, temperature, absorption and dispersion coefficients.
Other applications of the system include detecting oil spots, conducting environmental studies and inspecting dispersion of suspended particles.
The low-cost laser videotaping system is capable of high-speed recognition, installation on airplanes and helicopters, measuring the depth and topography of danger zones and prompt videotaping.
Najjar said the two objectives of his ministry are promotion of science and creation of new technology.
"Our experts and researchers are conquering peaks of modern technology one after another," he said.
Referring to thorough and relentless research as a prerequisite for comprehensive development and defense, the defense minister reiterated that Malek Ashtar Industrial University, as a research hub for defense technology, has implemented more than 400 important scientific and research projects in the defense field and trained more than 5,000 experts at different educational levels.
Najjar enumerated the achievements of Malek Ashtar University as development of advanced technologies, manufacture of modern weapons, management of defense technology and providing researchers with scientific and technical support, especially in the defense field
