I think I seen you say you are from Cuba.

What do you think the future of Cuba holds? That old Fvcker can't live forever.Excuse my language.Fidel is soon in need of retirement.

Which type of government will take power ,in your oppinion.

Also if, you research Cuba, which direction do you think the people want to go ,as a majority.

@RaQin- you clain to be from Cuba originally (I think thats what you said, now an American),which type of Leadership would you like to see come to power? Please don't say Islamic Theocrathy.I don't think it would fly.Can you imagine wearing a burka or man robes (mullahs)in 30-40 degree temperature.

Do you guys live in Florida ,in the Miami area by any chance?Cuba is amazingly close to florida 90 miles.Alot of people braved the journey in small boats to get to the US.

Where Cubans not allowed to leave Cuba or where they just trying to bypass immagration into the US?I would say many immagrants worked their ass off when they first got into the US most jobs where probably low-paying.But still more than they would have made at home (cuba).

Unfortantely there has been way too many years of communism and hardship in that country. If Fidel infact dies or some how 'retires', his brother will take over. His brother is 20x worse than Fidel and he gets anything he wants. I would like to see and independant democratic government. One with free elections, minimum wages, freedom of speech and expression, and prosperity for the ones who worked their asses off and never saw a dime.

My story of how I left Cuba was a very interesting one. My parents would never allow any of us to leave Cuba on a raft because it was just way too dangerous. My grandfather had owned the only battery factory at the time and Fidel wanted it. He physically took it from my grandfather because it was making money. When Fidel took it, he couldn't make any money with it so he gave it back to my grandfather. All the people at the factory refused to work because of what Fidel did and they left. When my grandfather got it back, the workers came back including a lot of my family members. My family basically got fed up with the living conditions and they agreed to leave, although some of them stayed; mostly cousins. My grandfather some how cut a deal with Fidel that my grandfather would transfer the factory to Fidel for permission to leave and permission to leave via Cuban airspace. My grandfather, my parents, and other family members put their money together and purchased plane tickets from the government after recieving political assylum from the US. Thats how I got here and every day I thank my grandfather; although he passed away a while ago from brain cancer.

When my family came to the US, my grandfather opened up a garage with my father and my uncle. To this day my father still owns the company and I work there whenever I am out of school.

Does that about answer your questions?

***Forgot to answer one of your questions. When we arrived in the US when stayed in Miami, Florida for 2 days at my dad's uncle's place. We then moved to New Jersey where I am currently living.

@ Issa.I was mainly refering to Burkas which would be more hardline members of the church. The hejab would probably be practical in hot weather to protect from high temperatures.(But shouldn't be manditory)

@ AK very interresting personal account. As new comers to the US ,it sounds like your family did very well. Can I set-up an appointment for a break job?

I understand where you are coming from ,I work on cars. Some of the new stuff is very complicated with the OBD2 diagnostics.Even leaving a gas cap loose can trigger an "service engine soon" code on many newer GM's.

But is it(was it) illegal for Cubans to leave Cuba?

Come on Raqin talk to us.

No it is not illegal for Cubans to leave Cuba, but they cannot leave by plane leaving the only way to get out by boat. Fidel encourages people to leave by boat, maybe because a lot of them die due to the harsh conditions of sea when you are on a raft. If you are lucky enough to survive the passage, you have to watch for US Coast Guard because they will send you back. As soon as you are on US soil they let you stay.
We no longer own the machine shop we just sell car parts and make our own paint using PPG and Omni products. Where do you live, Israel?

the first two are german and the last one is British. I dont like American beer too much unless I am short of cash, thats when I go for the Busch; tastes like soda I must add.

@isr
Nice to hear about someone else for a change. When my grandfather died, a spanish news paper in New Jersey wrote an article about him on the front page. They spoke about how he is considered one of the most successful Cuban immigrants in all of New Jersey. My grandmother has the article at her house, when I go tomorrow to visit her, I'll make a copy of the article. At that time we owned a machine shop, 2 autopart stores, 3 factories, 7 warhouses and bunch of car lots that we rented off to other garages. Now we only have only one of the autopart stores, we sold 4 out of the 7 warhouse, sold all three factories(they went under; we owned the property, but not the company it was called Mortor Age,) and the machine shop was attached to the other store which is in the process of getting torn down so we can build something else over it.

@ Raqin, look how this path of communism has enabled Cuba to be famous for two things.Cigars and tourism. The revolution is forever?Did you live under it and if it is so good why where people risking their lives to excape the Island?

Western capitalistice ideals make money for the population of whatever country adhears to the ideas.Plane and simple.Russia has already proven that communism doesn't work.Free market trade combined with basic freedoms is the answer.

The only people that travel to Cuba are those who have money and lots of it. I say that because in order to get to Cuba, if u live in the US, is to go to a different country and then travel to Cuba. A lot of people go to Mexico or Canada, depending on where they are located. Since the Embargo the biggest travelers were Soviets, but now that the Soviet Union is dead, not too many Russians go the Island anymore. When the and if the embargo ever dies, I am going to talk to a representative of the US immigration to see if I can travel to cuba to visit. I say that because my father told me the Cubans would arrest me because of my last name.

Well capitalism has worked for the minority of the world in the west most of the rest of the world hasn't been so lucky!

You talk about free market trade Rascal but unfortunately this isn't the case as more often than not the rules clearly favour the west and are biased against the poorer nations. Just look at how the western governments subsidise their farmers and then dump the excess that they produce on poorer countries at knock down prices which the local farmers cannot compete with.

Re: "rules clearly favour the west"

you are right.Isn't that part of success?

Other countries are trying to be successfull also and would do the same if it was "their" surplus. That is how it works in business.Survival of the fittest.

How much money do you think western/european countries donate?

They can only do so much in the way of suport.

If Western countries invest too much in a forign country, you would say they were trying to take over.

There is no winning with your frame of mind.At some point the people have to help themselfs and quit blaming other people for their failures.

What makes you think everyone deserves to live? Certainly many would be better off dead anyway. Lets try and keep all the Saddams, Hitlers, Stalins, Maos alive shall we. Let's keep the terminally ill and harshly suffering, who have no chance of better life, alive, shall we? Some people are simply a waste of our quickly dwindling resources.

First of all, a very small proportion of the GDP of USA/Europe is going toward aid to African nations.
Secondly, this is a very necessary aid, seeing that the dire status of those nations today was imposed upon them by USA/Europe.

It wasnt America that colonized Africa nor did America begin slavery. In fact, it was the Africans themselves who began slavery in their continent, and continued to feed the slave slave trade.

That wasnt even the point...

Rascal made the comment "Survival of the fittest" is how the world works and implied that is how it should work...That idea of survival of the fittest is satanic!
Then god would be satan, because god created that order in the nature...
