I don't see why you trying to seperate special forces from general forces when talking about elite warfighters. The elites are special forces...

special forces take on special missions usually small ones that only require a small team.

Marines are not special forces, they are elite soldiers, they take part in large assaults and are the tip of the American spear.

There's really no comparison, US forces are clearly much superior. And also comparing Spetsnaz (in general) with USMC is like comparing apples with oranges.

I could accept a comparisson between Naval Infantry with USMC, but again any attempts are futile.

I strongly beleive that there's nothing wrong in admitting the obvious. :)

No it's not an oxymoron, it's just that you know too few of how NATO countries organize probably. It's ok though, we are here to educate eachother.

You can call USMC Force Recon as Special Forces, not the entire USMC.

Force Recon is not dedicated special forces as they are part of the MEU. Special Forces for that service is Navy SEALs because Marines make up the majority of SEAL positions as sailors don't make good infantry.

The difference is Force Recon = Rangers and SEALs = Green Berets

They is different levels of elite... Force Recon isn't it. SEALs are the best of the best.

Let me help you here. The fact is USMC Force Recon have been integrated witnin USSOCOM, along with the Rangers, SEALs, etc.

So there's nothing oxymoron my friend, just try and concentrate on the facts in 2007 terms, not 1989. UMSC are seperate part of the US Armed Forces and they are considered an elite, rapid-deployable unit. They have their own MARSOC, plus Force Recon (which is integrated in USSOCOM), plus Scouts and other specialised battalions.

As for comparing the members of SOCOM (Seals are the best, etc.); I'd keep my mouth shut. I have discussed with ex-SEAL and ex-Ranger members and none of them boasted about who's "best". I suggest you do the same.

As stated previously MARSOC is not part of USSOCOM. You shouldn't mix possible future events with the present at hand.

The USMC is a part of the USN, always has been always will be.

Obviously you haven't discussed anything with anyone because your ignorance of the subject is apparent.
