Iran, Japan to broaden mutual ties

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan are determined to explore avenues to broaden all out ties on Human Rights issues.
An Advisor to Iran's foreign minister Tahereh Nazri, who heads a five-member delegate in Japan, made the remarks in a meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister for Foreign Policy Chikao Kawai.
The Iranian delegation attended the 4th Iran-Japan session of the Iran-Japan Human Rights Committee.
At the meeting, the Iranian envoy, who is also Director-General for International Affairs and Human Rights of Foreign Ministry, said the current meeting has created suitable grounds for continued talks and exchange of views on the issue of human rights between the two countries.
Iran is ready to expand mutual cooperation with Japan within regional and international organizations on Human Rights issues, she said.
The Japanese deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined the need to further broaden relations between the two countries on human rights related affairs.
Elaborating on regional and international developments, he underlined the significant role of both countries in restoration of peace and stability around the globe.
The 4th Iran-Japan Joint Human Rights meeting kicked off in Tokyo on Friday where the two sides' officials studied avenues to expand mutual, regional and international cooperation on human rights issues.
Expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo in the area of human rights and familiarization of Japanese officials with the position of Iranian women in various social fields were among topics discussed at the session, he said.
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on Thursday saying the Iranian and Japanese officials are expected to agree with promotion of bilateral cooperation on human rights and its related fields including the UN Human Rights Council.
The 5th session of Iran-Japan Human Rights Committee will be held in Tehran.
