Starting from Sunday, 1st July 2007, six Iranian films will be screened at the 8th Rainbow Film Festival in London.
“Khayli Dur Khayli Nazdik” (Too Far Too Near), Kudak va Sarbaz (The Child and the Soldier), “Posht-e Pardeh Meh (Behind the Curtain of Fog), and Café Transit (Transit Coffee Shop) are among Iranian features which will be screened at this festival, through the cooperation of the Cultural Attaché of Iranian Embassy in London.
This year's festival is devoted to films from Asia which will continue through 27th July.
Twenty-six films from Iran, India, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will be screened at two cinemas in East London.
The annual Rainbow Film Festival or the Bangladesh Film Festival is the only film festival in the UK exclusively dedicated to Bangladeshi cinema.
Staged in East London, the festival provides a rare opportunity for the large local Bangladeshi community to be in touch with classical and contemporary entertainment from their home country, whilst also allowing people from other backgrounds to discover Bangladeshi cinema.
