Iran's Naqshe Jahan Square in Isfahan
The World Heritage Committee has removed Naqshe Jahan Square from the list of World Heritage in Danger after a review of the site.
As Iran took UNESCO's warning seriously, modification of Jahan Nama Tower in Isfahan helped remove the site from the list of World Heritage in Danger.
Iran was supposed to take measures to reduce the height of Jahan Nama Tower following a request by UNESCO, which said the tower intruded the aerial buffer zone of Naqshe Jahan Square and threatened the world heritage site from being placed on the list of Endangered World Heritage Sites.
The 500 thousand dollar project provided by the Iranian president and formation of the Modification Committee are among the measures taken by the Iranian government.
"During its 31st session, the World Heritage Committee has passed the first pace in the inscription of Iran's Churches in the World Heritage List," Taha Hashemi, head research center of Iran's Heritage and Tourism Organization said.
