The LARS is a multiple rocket launcher, a type of rocket artillery.

It had two slots with 18 tubes of the caliber 110 mm.
It was capable to fire unguided rockets, anti-vehicle mines, fog granades and cluster granades.
The system was developed and produced by Wegmann & Co. Transporters for the LARS system were the Magirus-Deutz 178 D 15 A and the MAN 7t truck.
The production started in the 1960s . The LARS was in active service untill 1990.
On April the 9th 2000 the Bundeswehr discharged all LARS systems. They will be replaced by the MLRS rocket artillery and the PzH 2000.

I'm sorry but wasnt it you making fun of ww2 Katyusha , calling it just a bunch of railed rockets on a truck?

from:http://www.irandefence.net/showthread.php?t=15007&page=4&highlight=nebelwerfer
the Stalinorgeln(just love that word^^) were primitive... as they are today!
they are just shooting 'in about the direction' you fired them. also alot of these trucks in ww2 exploded by driving into holes in the streets etc.

but i never said that i think the LARS is a good weapon... i just added it to complete the articles about bundeswehr-used systems ;)

I think the LARS was mutch better than ww2 "Stalinorgeln",it had the ability to deploy mines etc.
But that system was retired 20 years ago for a reason.
Btw. we lack an article about the Dingo..

Germany should get a Schweres Artillerie Raketen System (SARS). It would be fitting to tip it with bio-weapons :D
