Swiss filmfest to celebrate Iranian director

The 60th Locarno International Film Festival is to commemorate Famous Iranian film director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad in Switzerland.
The Locarno International Film Festival is one of the biggest European film events and one of the most important festivals in the world that is annually held in Switzerland.
This year, the festival plans to praise Bani-Etemad by showing her 1995 The Blue-Veiled.
The film established her as one of the most influential women directors in Iran and was also awarded the Bronze Panther in the 48th Locarno Film Festival in 1995.
Bani-Etemad graduated in film directing from the Tehran University's Faculty of Dramatic Arts and began her career as an assistant director and soon moved her way up. She has won many domestic and overseas awards throughout her career.
The event is scheduled on August 1-11, 2007.
