I went there and it was sooo nice also they even had the courage to reclaim their land from israel without an airforce so i respect them for that and i had an egyptian muslim friend in school who was the best guy and made me wanna be a better muslim he was so proud of his religion and nice to everyone kinda united all the muslims of different backgrounds which is a big feat because you see how much hatred there is between the various nationalities. He made many people have a nice view of egyptians :3eyes4:

Thousands of Palestinians streamed home through the breaches in Gaza's border with Egypt on Sunday after Egyptian authorities choked off supplies to the area and moved to restore control.

Egypt has struggled to re-seal the border and contain hundreds of thousands of needy Gazans who poured across since militants blasted openings last Wednesday to evade an Israeli blockade on the Hamas Islamist-run territory.

A Reuters reporter on the Egyptian side of the border town of Rafah on Sunday saw thousands of Palestinians leaving Egypt, dwarfing the number of those crossing in from the Gaza Strip.

"We wanted to buy food. It was very difficult. We could not find anything," said 17-year-old Khalil Hamdan. "We won't come back because all the products are finished."

Hundreds of trucks were held up at a bridge that leads from mainland Egypt to the Sinai peninsula and Gaza. Merchants in Rafah said they were struggling to resupply their shops with food and cigarettes. Palestinians said the scarcity of goods drove prices to the roof.

Egyptian authorities on Saturday forced the shutdown of all stores, markets and gas stations in al-Arish city in the northern Sinai in a bid to pressure the Palestinians to return to Gaza, eyewitnesses and security sources said.

Security sources have imposed a curfew, trying to prevent people from walking in the streets, sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

"Streets in al-Arish are completely empty of Egyptians. Only Palestinians are wandering around searching for open shops to buy from," sources said.

Egyptian security forces in full riot gear deployed along the border with Gaza on Friday in an attempt to restore order after two days of anarchy that saw hundreds of thousands of Palestinians cross over freely and stock up on scarce supplies in Egypt.

The deadline to close the Rafah crossing point was earlier announced over megaphones on Egyptian security vehicles driving around al-Arish and the divided border town of Rafah, where many Palestinians had spent the night, either with relatives, on benches or in parks.

General Not-Now,
Egypt loves you back!

Welcome to our house. We will treat you like you are part of the family. We will feed you "foul medamis," "molokheia", and "kuftah" and some chicken (even if we have to kill the last one), and when you are finished we will force another dish on you because you must leave the table bloated!! Then we will sit on the balcony and have some "shay" - tea and eat lots and lots of very sweet pastry until you can't walk straight! If you say no we will be offended!! Then we will give you the biggest and best room in our house with new sheets and pillows and maybe your own TV. Then when you are settled in and had a chance to recover from the meal, we will listen to the Azaan and all stand in line to use the bathroom to make Wuduu. Then we will give you a "galabiya" and a Taiya" and we will all walk together to the Masjid and pray "salaat al asr". After that we take a long walk and look at all the stores full of electronics and watches and clothes and shoes!!!! Then we will go back to the house and sleep until the "fagr." After that we will repeat every thing again!!!!!!!!
Welcome to our house.

Ya2,
take your guns off and swallow a couple of "chill pills" ok! You're welcome to the house too just relax a little for a change. When you sit at the table I will personally give you a glass of mango juice to calm you down. You get a couple of extra pieces of pastry since you are a neighbor ok?

Agreed!
I'll tell you a quick story about the Shah since it's part of your signature - after the revolution and his death, the daughter and the youngest son came to attend the same school I was at in Egypt. She was beautiful but much older than me...too bad for me!!!!! They both had Egyptian body guards who would escort them from one classroom to the other and they weren't allowed to leave the campus. The younger son would ask me to go to the kiosk and buy him a candy bar every once in a while!!! We became good friends but they moved on after 1 year. Nice people and I will always remember them and their tragic story.

You are a true patriot my good brother! I have done this for months with our other brother EAF on the "October War" thread until we went blue in the face!!! We don't need to prove it, just enjoy it because even if Sharon woke out of his grave and said it with his own mouth on You Tube...they will never believe it.

Unfortunately my young brother Syed, I am much older:biggrin1:!!! Class of 1984! We used to raise hell in Maadi and I still stay in touch with many classmates till today. I used to play guitar in a rock band and we played at PUB 13 and at other school activities and also AUC! We shut the University down one night and almost started a riot because our singer started cussing in Arabic! What an idiot:laugh4:! It was a great school and still is today. I think I was the first Egyptian to date a foreign chick :roflmao3:!!! My older brothers were amongst the first Arabs to start attending the school and it's nice to see many on the student body list today.

I lived in Rawalpindi for a year and a half or so back in.....I think '76-'77 during Zulfikar Bhutto's days. I think he was killed right after we left. A lasting memory is when I was playing in the back yard of our house one day and came in for dinner, a scorpion was hagging off my jeans and when my mother noticed it and started screaming, my father attacked it with his newspaper and crushed it to smithereens!!!!:roflmao3:

I'm very impressed with your arabic!!! How long did you live in Egypt?

Syed Ali Hassan
03-02-2008, 07:53 AM
I lived in Egypt from 1999 until 2003. Before that I lived in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. I personally enjoyed Egypt much more than KSA because of the people, and the culture.

Wow so I was just born when you were in CAC haha. That is really something.

The school has changed so much and is rated the 2nd or 3rd best international american school. I used to get into trouble every now and then and make hell for my parents, but in the end I turned out good and the school was perfect for me and prepared me for university.

That is amazing u lived in Pindi man, the Zulfiqar days were good days -he did some mistakes but was a good leader. As for scorpions, I would probably have a heart attack ya 3am!!

Inshallah I will visit Egypt soon because i miss it TO DEATH!!! I miss the traffic, I miss sharm, I miss the late night hang outs in Mohandessin and Zamalek. Man we had such a good life there, begad.

attached is my graduating class --june 2003.
