Wanted to find out what people who use this site think of Ireland's struggle for freedom? How best it can be achieved?

Hello Liam welcome to the forum I am also from the occupied Ireland, Belfast to be precise. Well I think that the struggle is now effectively over and its just a matter of waiting for a shift in the Demographic make up of the population in the North and this process is already happening as the Nationalist population is on the increase.

I believe that the struggle is'nt over untill the british goverment state there intent to withdraw and do so, even with a demographic majority in favour of a united Ireland the british won't relequish it's grasp on our country militarly our economically, as our history tells us Britian is a imperialist and colonial country and has only ever relequished it's hold on a country when fought and made pay to severe a price, Freedom has to be fought for it cannot be given.

Our National Soverignity is violated and it is our right to resist in arms at such a violation, if not our obligation to do so!

Hi Liam, welcome to the forum.

I(personally) am not for the struggle unless the majority want independence in Northern Ireland, I live in Scotland and independence isn’t too popular here, Scotland depends on the UK as much as the UK depends on Scotland in certain aspects. I think it’s wrong to have struggle if the number of people who want independent are a minority. In Palestine, Chechnya, Kurds etc. it’s the majority who are united in one cause, Ireland is split. I think Northern Ireland should come to terms that they are part of the UK, they should retain their own culture like Scotland, I think they are better off economically being part of the UK as well as well as politically.

If Northern Ireland became independent tomorrow as it’s own country or joined up with the republic of Ireland it wouldn’t be a very stable region.

I am for independent Scotland and Northern Ireland in theory, in reality I just don’t see either one working.
