Air-transportable artillery system
KMW is presently developing and testing the Artillery Gun Module (AGM). This fully-automatic, 155mm/52 caliber independent firing module is an innovative system design that retains the proven features and performance parameters of the PzH 2000. Integrated on a track or wheel chassis, the AGM is air-transportable in the Airbus A400M and accordingly responds to the new requirements profile of allied armed forces in NATO and the EU.

As a quickly transportable artillery support component, the AGM is used in evacuations, regionally-limited peace-keeping deployments, or show-of-force scenarios where air support or the use of heavier weaponry is not recommendable, available or too expensive. The AGM hence represents an innovative system supplement to the PzH 2000.

the vehicle is a MLRS isnt it?
anyways i dont see why this system is necessary. the real pzh2000 offers alot more protection. and the dutch also somehow managed to bring their pzhs to afghanistan...so the air transportability is no argument for me ;)

ok didnt know that...

but anyways with an c17 or even an il76 it shouldnt be a problem to deliver it anywhere...

they do that with the A400M

i dont think so.
not only that there isnt even a prototype of the a400m yet,
it is tought to have a payload of 37 tons... the Panzerhaubitze 2000 has a weight of 55,5 t ...
in my eyes germany should buy some of the last c17 or at least some il76 or an124...

why buy other planes when you have still invested billions in the development of an own... germany and other european countries want to be independent of american our other nations army technology, and with the a400m you can deliver the AGM because it`s much lighter than the Panzerhaubitze 2000...

of course europe should be more indipendent also in its defence... but what did europe really generate besides the Tiger and the Eurofighter?
i think we need more time for an self sufficient defence industry... and untill we have one, i think we should get the best we can get... and in this case it is not the a400m ...

- there are many vehicles which are used from many european countries together e.g. Leopard 2, Fennek, Panzerhaubitze 2000, NH90...! NH90 and Fennek are co-productions like tiger and eurofighter or tornado. and leopard 2 and PzH 2000 are produced from german companies, but selled to other nations...

- and europe has an own defence industry e.g. EADS(European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) airbus and eurocopter for example are parts of EADS, so you can say EADS produce tiger, eurofighter, a400m...

and if the european governments would buy planes and so on, from USA.., they would ruin their own industries...

Maybe this one is supposed to be transportable by Transall?

No, only by A400m or bigger. Transall can only deliver 16t, A400m ca.32t...
