Sami Yusuf, a British Muslim singer famous in rock genre especially in Muslim countries, recently is called Islam's Biggest Rock Star.
The British citizen born in Iran to Azeri parents, Sami Yusuf, has spent most of his life in London. Like his music, he is a fusion of East and West.
There are some aspects of Yusuf's job which are different from other rock singers. When he begins to sing, it's clear he's not quite like other rock stars. "Peace and salutations upon you, O Messenger of God," he chants.
Yusuf believes Islam values art and music. "Islam is all for modernity and all that is good and beautiful in this world," he says. His songs all are about love for the Prophet Muhammad to the suffering of Palestinians, Iraqis and Sudanese. "Our hearts, our minds, our souls are with our brothers and sisters in Palestine and in Lebanon," he said.
And that may explain why his screaming fans include not just star-struck young women in head scarves, but teenage boys in blue jeans and gelled hair, old men in traditional Arab robes, and middle-aged moms bouncing toddlers on their knees.

Sami Yusuf agrees to appear on IRIB TV
TEHRAN,) -- Religious singer and composer Sami Yusuf has agreed to appear on the IRIB Channel 5 talk show “Kuleh-Poshti” (Backpack) on Id al-Fitr, which is in the middle of October this year.
Sami Yusuf has accepted the invitation to be the guest of honor on the TV show, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Sunday.
Sami Yusuf is a British singer-songwriter of Azeri origin. He was born in Tehran in July 1980.
Yusuf’s music focuses on social and humanitarian issues and many of his songs are about Islam and what it’s like being a Muslim in the modern world.
