UAE Aiding Lebanon

i heard that uae was considering sending its army to lebanon last summer ?
does any1 have any information about that ?

I know that Doha gave Hezb'Allah some aid money after the war, the feelings were very mixed about recieving this money because doha was US base for attacking Iraq.

Yeah, if Israel had crossed the river in Lebanon, the UAE were to assist Lebanon militarily.

وصلت المجموعة الرابعة من عناصر هندسة الميدان التابعة للقوات المسلحة لدولة الإمارات إلى العاصمة اللبنانية بيروت أمس وذلك إطار الدعم المتواصل الذي تقدمه الدولة للبنان تنفيذا للمبادرة التي أطلقها صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان رئيس الدولة «حفظه الله» لتطهير مناطق الجنوب اللبناني من الألغام والقنابل العنقودية.


وستباشر المجموعة خلال الأيام المقبلة أعمالها الميدانية للمشاركة في عمليات إزالة الألغام والقنابل العنقودية والقذائف غير المتفجرة في مناطق جنوب لبنان استكمالا للجهود التي قامت بها المجموعات الأولى والثانية والثالثة من عناصر هندسة الميدان الإماراتية في الفترة الماضية والتي نجحت في تطهير عدد كبير من القرى والحقول الزراعية في جنوب لبنان.


وتعتبر هذه المبادرة التي ينفذها المشروع الإماراتي لدعم وإعمار لبنان أحد أضخم المشاريع الداعمة للبنان ما بعد الحرب ويتواجد حالياً للمشروع الإماراتي 30 فريقا بمشاركة عناصر هندسية من القوات المسلحة الإماراتية لتطهير حوالي 4 ملايين متر مربع يوجد فيها 156 شركا خداعيا و274 حقل ألغام .


وحسب الدراسة الميدانية التي قام بها فريق متخصص من القوات المسلحة لدولة الإمارات وبالتنسيق مع الجيش اللبناني والأمم المتحدة الممثلة في مركز التنسيق لنزع الألغام سيتم تطهير ما تبقى من المنطقة التي كانت محتلة سابقا في جنوب لبنان باستثناء الخط الأزرق مع نهاية العام 2007 من الألغام والقنابل العنقودية وتقع هذه المنطقة بين نهري الليطاني والأولي في منطقة جزين والنبطية وحاصبيا.


أما بالنسبة للمناطق التي تقع جنوب نهر الليطاني والمحاذية للشريط الحدودي وهي ذات المناطق التي تم تطهيرها من الألغام ضمن مشروع التضامن الإماراتي لنزع الألغام سابقا والتي تقدر مساحتها بحوالي 580 كيلومتراً مربعا فسيتم العمل على تطهيرها من جديد لإزالة القنابل العنقودية والقنابل غير المتفجرة التي خلفها العدوان الإسرائيلي الأخير على جنوب لبنان.


جدير بالذكر أن مشروع إزالة الألغام والقنابل العنقودية الذي ينفذه المشروع الإماراتي لدعم وإعمار لبنان يمثل امتدادا لمشروع التضامن الإماراتي لنزع الألغام الذي بادر به وأمر بتنفيذه المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان والذي نفذ من عام 2002 الى عام 2004 والذي تم من خلاله تطهير 58 الفا و73 لغما موزعة على 511 حقل ألغام و4 الاف و192 قنبلة غير منفجرة و199 شركا خداعيا على مساحة من الأرض بلغت 4 ملايين و930 ألفا و286 مترا مربعا وأعيد إلى الأهالي مساحة من الأرض بلغت في إجمالها 193 كيلومترا مربعا حيث دبت الحياة فيها مجددا بفضل نجاح مشروع التضامن .

The U.A.E is one of the few countries that helped the lebanese army with weapons, like the Gazel helicopters and some patrol boats, despite the fact that the U.S forced them to remove all missiles launchers off all of them, but no plans were ever present to help lebanon in the previous war or any war for that matter...
I believe the U.A.E did the best they could..

I believe the U.A.E did the best they could..

I didn't know they had an army but they have donated money along with Qatar and I believe they and Qatar had sent a team to get rid of land minds and cluster bombs in South Lebanon.

You are right. The money was not received by Hezb'Allah, they (Doha) were thanked for their assistance and were told to spend the money directly to re-build existing and new facilities, by going through the Lebanese government - if I'm not mistaken, that's what happened.

I would love to say - you are right - but i personally highly doubt "the Arabs" would do anything whatsoever, and seeing how Pakistan is pretty much under the US influence, they wont.

Israel been pounding and killing people in Gaza for how many days now? Arabs are looking elsewhere and pretending nothing is happening.

Israel can occupy all of Lebanon and the Arab world wont do a thing, if US approves it.

Hezb'Allah and another 1 million Lebanese people will be armed and doing the very same thing we did when Israel came into Beirut in 80's. The US can park their 3-ships outside - or even - inside Lebanese waters, it don't matter, because it will not protect the Israeli's if they step into Lebanon.
