The question that need to be asked now, is not how come the Hizballah managed to hit one of the best Israeli navy ship, but how come that the missile who suppose to sink US destroyers in the Persian Gulf havn't managed to sink a 1,200 ton corvvette!

Israel needs a stronger navy. It should not rely on US air craft carriers or submarines. :)

what do you mean?
Why is Israel need a stronger navy?
If you'll look into our situation you'll understand the opposite.
who can be a threat to us? Egypt? the Israeli navy is superior to the egyptian navy by 1000% and more. Lebanon? ;]. besides that, the Israeli navy is not a weak force at all, with about 15 hi-tech missiles boats and dozens and dozens of smaller ones.

Any outside threat. It will also allow you to project power in distant area's.
I suggest buying some 30 diesel subs and a few British type 45's If they would sell them at all, (probably not)
Turkey has a powerful navy because of the Greece situation and its surrounded by sea
Anyway, a little more fire power might discourage any attacks like that and possibly prevent it in the future.
Friendly advice from a Turk. ;)

Outside threats like whom?
Iran? thats quite ridiculous, who else?
There's no enough room and no need for 30 Diesel subs in Israel, we have now 3 and in few years 5, and thats much more than enough.
the total coast line of Israel with the sea is 200km, and the amount of equipment per coasts in Israel is probably 10 times more than in any other country..
we really doesn't need any more.

Why would such a small nation need a navy that big? The Israeli Navy is superior to those of their neighbors, and they proved that in past conflicts. Remember, it's not the ship that matters, it's the crews.
