The Gamma Leonid will be the brightest star in the sky and high speed meteors can be seen after the midnight if the weather conditions are favorable.

Residents of Tehran can expect to see a maximum of 10 meteors per hour.

The Leonid meteor shower is composed of the dusty debris that has been shed by the comet Temple-Tuttle, a small celestial body that orbits the Sun at 33-year intervals.

The name Leonid originates from the constellation of Leo, the Lion.
