AgustaWestland have reportedly signed another new customer, with an Italian-based website reporting that Algeria are to buy six EH-101 and four Lynx Mk.300 helicopters. The contract, worth approx 400M Euros, is seen as a surprise for a country which has predominatnly bought more Russian-design helicopters in the past.
Deliveries are expected from 2009, with the aircraft to be used for a variety of functions including transport and SAR. This order apparently replaces another signed in 2006 with Eurocopter, which was later cancelled - covering a total of eight helicopters with a value of 250M Euros.
