Afghanistan Presidency press spokesman Kerim Rahimi announced that Afghanistan will not recognize Israel as long as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains unsolved.
Issuing a statement to the press at the presidential palace Tuesday, Rahimi said Afghani-Israeli relations will continue; however, no diplomatic relations will be established with Israel until it recognizes Palestine as a state.
Rejecting a question on whether or not the overthrown Taliban and Al-Qaeda groups have attempted to establish an independent state at the Afghanistan-Pakistani border, Afghani spokesman said that some are trying to keep the Afghani agenda busy with such baseless news.
President Hamit Kharzai in his earlier statement to a prominent newspaper in Israel, Ahronot Yediot, declared that Afghanistan could recognize Israel. He emphasized developments between both countries are normal. The Israeli side was also pleased with this statement.
