Why do you guys bring up the last one of the LoTR trilogy?

In my opinion, it was the worst of those...

The true Classic collection of Eastman:

* West Side Story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Side_Story_%28film%29) (1961)
* Il deserto rosso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Desert_%28film%29) (1964)
* Zabriskie Point (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zabriskie_Point_%28film%29) (1970)
* 2010: The Year We Make Contact (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010:_The_Year_We_Make_Contact) (1984)
* Асса (Assa) (http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B0_%28%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BC%2 9) (1987)

Basically almost all films that were produced until the beginning of the 90's were more or less good. These days, the vast majority of them are not worth watching.

Not true if I am asked. The ones we remember from the past tend to be good, while the relative proportion of crap hasnt changed, even though certain eras may produce more stuff that suits for someones taste.

@Mustavaris

Why i do not like modern cinema:

1) Too much IT technologies.

2) Films became quite similar to each other.

3) The scums became good lads (pimps, drug dealers, criminals ...).

4) Too much focusing on overpriced celebrities ant this becomes a criterion of film quality.

5) In almost all films you have a sex scene, is it so important to show it :suspicious4:

6) Very predictable.

It is good that the trailer didn't hint on anything special because it made everything even more exciting and added more anticipation, or at least I thought so.

My top 5 films of all? It's impossible to squeeze my best into 5 so I'll rather list my best according to each genre. I simply can't choose 5 out of them.

here goes...

Western: THE WILD BUNCH
Silent Classic: GOLD RUSH
Sci Fi: BLADE RUNNER
Noir: I WANT TO LIVE!
Gangster: THE GODFATHER
Horror: DON'T LOOK KNOW
War (WWI): PATHS OF GLORY
War (WWII): COME AND SEE
War (Vietnam): APOCALYPSE NOW
Comedy: SOME LIKE IT HOT
Psycho drama: MULHOLLAND DRIVE
Musical: OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR!
Romantic Comedy: SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
Crime: THE FRENCH CONNECTION
Horror/Sci Fi: ALIEN
Biopic: SACCO & VANZETTI
Sword and Sandal epics:
LORD OF THE RINGS (all three films)
Sports: THE GREAT ESCAPE
Drama: SHADOWLANDS

And my personal favourite that tops them all: CITIZEN KANE

Good Luck Everyone

Oldboy

Lt George: “You know what would cheer you up? A Charlie Chaplain film! Oh I love old chappers, don't you cap?”
Cpt Blackadder: “Unfortunately no, I don't. I find his films about as funny as getting an arrow through the neck and then discovering there's a gas bill tied to it.”

“A man may fight for many things: his country, his principles, his friends, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally I'd mud wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock, and a sack of French porn.”

The true Classic collection of Eastman: 2010: The Year We Make Contact (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010:_The_Year_We_Make_Contact) (1984)I was fascinated by this film! The rest of the ones you listed seem pretty interesting too (except West Side Story, which I've seen multiple times in music class in school).
