Iranian archeologists have started the eleventh phase of Burnt City excavations in the southeastern Province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
Head of the Burnt City excavation team Mansour Sajjadi said that the new phase would focus on the residential parts of the city.
“A British pathologist from New Castle University and five Italian archeologists from Milan and Rome will cooperate with our team,” he added.
The Burnt City located near the city of Zabol in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, spans more than 300,000 hectares and dates back to 5,200 years ago.
Four civilizations have lived in the city which was burnt down three times and not rebuilt after the last fire.
The world's oldest animated picture, dice and backgammon set, the earliest known caraway seed and artificial eyeball have been found at the site.
