150 graves dating back to the Bronze Age and some 4,000-year old artifacts have been discovered in Iran's northwestern province of Ardebil.

Archeologists have unearthed 150 stone graves belonging to the Middle Bronze Age (4,000 years ago) and the Metal Age (2,800 years ago).

The large size of these graves, with some measuring 52 meters in width, is considered to be the main feature of the ancient cemetery.

The existence at the same place of graves belonging to two different ages implies that Ardebil had been uninterruptedly inhabited by people from the Middle Bronze Age to the Safavid era.

The excavations in one of the graves is said to have also revealed a gold button and pieces of clay as well as some opal, azure and glass beads.
