TEHRAN, Dec. 8 (MNA) -- “I feel a glow of pride when I am able to make spectators, especially the disabled, laugh,” Iranian comedian Akbar Abdi told IRNA on Friday.
He referred to the 3rd edition of the Iranian International Theater Festival for the Disabled which will be held from December 11 until 15 and commented: “Officials and organizations should help the disabled to discover and develop their talents, and this gala will be of great assistance in this direction.”
Abdi went on to say that the authorities should first give priority to the basic needs of handicapped people such as employment and housing.
“The disabled are able to express themselves and their needs through drama, and the other artists who participate in these programs are acquainted with the problems that handicapped people encounter in society,” he added.
“I am delighted to be able to make this sector of society happy since they have a right to be active and in high spirits,” he concluded.
