I hear alot abot the gun having 25,000 parts or whatnot, this isn't a good thing. What I want to know about is the Fajr shell. Is it a rocket assisted GPS guided shell like the Americans?

What's the purpose of it? It seems that Iran's military would rather have quanity over quality because you know that if a country comes out with a new weapon everyday, it can't be that good. I think they are pumping things out this fast is to be ready for a U.S-strike.

"The Fajr 27 addresses our naval forces' needs and is capable of hitting surface as well as aerial targets. Six years of work by our military specialists have borne fruit," Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.

"This weapon is capable of quickly reacting to any incoming aerial and surface attacks, has the capability to fire 85 rounds of 76 millimeter shells a minute and can be controlled automatically," he added on state television.

What is surprizing to me is the Translation of Navy Cannon by someone that is not familiar with english to SEA SHELL.

Looks like you can see the gun mount covers in the background of the second shot?

I guess is the Iranian copy of the Italian Compatto which is 76/62 and well it fires at a rate of 85. of course Italy now has the super compatto which I believe fires at a rate of 120 rds per min's. Still it is better than nothing.

You have it a bit wrong. Every day Iran announces something, the reason that they announce it, is because The west already knows about it, and they announce it as well. Iran has many more secreat weapons from all sorts of Military divisions (Airforce, Navy, and ground forces) that they don't want the west know about it, and west does not know about it either. So they will keep it secret for as long as they can.

the more i see it the more it's nearly identical to the oto melera 76mm. how many have they produced does anyone know?

is that the official clip? it's just that the naval vessel firing the weapon look mighty familiar and I was just wondering is a clip that was hashed together.

Are there plans to make it the standard weapon system for the smaller vessels???

This look like robot!!!, is it?

It looks automated but in order for it to be a robot, it needs to have some kind of "if then" instruction to be an official robot. It might be, I don't know.

Can these challence USN.

This thing wouldn't be able to get close enough to do damage to the USN because missiles would take out the ship with the Fajr. The US has something similar to this, but the point is for small boats.

If this weapon is what I expect, a reversed engineered oto melera 76mm then the range is 15km. so this would be very insufficient against any distant USN ships.

All its features is identical to the oto merela, with a range of 17 km.

in modern warfare you wont challange a warship with only automatic cannon you use missiles and torpedos too but its effective against other sort of ships or aviating objects or fast boats
