The BBC recently broadcasted a series about different schools in Syria. In this episode they filmed in a school that was for Palestinian refugees. Click here to watch (can't see it yet on Youtube unfortunately & the BBC iplayer only works in the UK) http://vimeo.com/9548848.

Episode two introduces Yarmouk School, which sits in the heart of a Palestinian Refugee Camp that’s sat on the southern edge of the city for over sixty years. Nearly all its students are Palestinian, coming of age in a society obsessed with its Palestinian identity and right to return to its homeland.

Two schoolgirls are breaking the mould. Shaza and Rahaf dream of serving the Palestinian cause though rap music, but their plans put them on a collision course with their parents and traditionalist head teacher as they try to bring their radical rap into the classroom.

Thanks for the link.

You're welcome, I really enjoyed watching it & how it captured the raw emotions of these young girls, especially the main 3 it followed (discus thrower, girls making rap & the classical musician) as they tried to make their dreams happen just like anyone else. I didn't know the UN had actually leased the land from Syria either so it was interesting.
