Don't think Ey Iran ever was a National Anthem, but it sure does beat both the Shahanshahi and the Islamic one. It's a praise to Iran, our homeland, rather than to the Shah or Islam.

I believe ey Iran was the national anthem for a short period, maybe a year or so, in 1979 until the new one (shod jomhooriye....) was made. Kind of like an interim national anthem. I love it and its patriotic lyrics.
