Thanks for the pictures, their airforce is not in a bad shape. They have the new varients of mig-29 (SMT version) and they have about 30 Su-30 fighter jets. But they really need to get rid of those mig-21's since it won't serve any good in the long term. 8 divisions of S-300MPU2 have been ordered and a batch of T-90 tanks.

The Mig-21's have een retired
The remaining Mig-21's are being traded with the 36 earlier Mig-29's for the 40 new Mig-29SMT
Algeria also looks likely to be the first foriegn country to order the RAFALE
France and Algeria signed an economic and military pact recently and the Algerians have stated they are shopping for a western fighter to compliment their new russian fighters

They are definitley not rich nor anywhere near to be a full economic force. Just another african arms deal that will be used against their own or possibly other A.F. countries. They buy all these nice lookin birds but in reality their people are suffering, nothing gained from this anyway.

Are you just misinformed or what?

Sonatrach the state-owned company in charge of selling algerian Methane has just signed a deal with Lukoil, Methane is in high demand now that oil is so pricey, so its price is soaring too...looks like Algeria is gonna benefit greatly from this and not just its army and air force.
