Default Imam Sadr's fate.

Does anyone thinks that Gaddafi actually kidnapped Imam Mussa Sadr, if so, who thinks he is still alive, that is if anyone remember him, he is a persian who became the head Shia in Lebanon.

Imam musa sadr was reportdley kidnapped in algeria whilst visiting there, people blame his disapperance directly on the hands of gadhaffi.

its a very veryhard situation to speculate on and why it happened because. some even claim him to be alive but captured, so who knows.

his pictures adorn south lebanon. im sure xoraas can enlighten us maybe, being a leb and knowing his history pretty well it seems!

@ Kheybar he was an Iranian and born in Iran but he is not persian. his family was originally from Lebonan.

@ Shia Excellence He was kidnapped in Libya not Algeria

Imam Musa Sadr, was born in Qom, Iran in 1928 to the prominent Sadr family of theologians. His father was Ayatollah Sadr al-Din Sadr, while Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr was his cousin. He attended his primary school in his hometown and then moved to the Iranian capital Tehran where he got in 1956 a degree in Economy from Tehran University. Then he moved back to Qom to study theology. He then edited some magazines in Qom. Eventually he left Qom for Najaf to study theology. His teachers were Imam Khomeini (Rh), Ayatollah Sayed Muhsin al-Hakim, Abul Qasim Khui, Ayatollah Boroujerdi, and Allameh Tabatabaee.

Imam Musa Sadr was an Iranian philosopher and a prominent Shi'ite religious leader who spent many years of his life in Lebanon as a religious and political leader.

The Sadr family was originally from Lebanon, and in 1960 Musa al-Sadr accepted an invitation to become the leading Shi'ite figure in the city of Tyre. Imam Musa Sadr quickly became one of the most prominent advocates for the Shi'ite population of Lebanon, a group that was both economically and politically disadvantaged. He was a vocal opponent of Zionist regime. In 1969 he was appointed as the first head of the "Supreme Islamic Shi'ite Council", an entity meant to give the Shi'ites more say in government. In 1974 he founded the Movement of the Disinherited to press for better economic and social conditions for the Shi'ites. He established a number of schools and medical clinics throughout southern Lebanon, many of which are still in operation today.

He is most famous for his political role, but he was also philosopher who had been trained by Allameh Tabatabaei. As Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr said: "his great political influence and fame was enough for people to not consider his philosophical attitude, although he was a well-trained follower of long living intellectual tradition of Islamic Philosophy".

Imam Musa Sadr attempted to prevent the descent into violence that eventually led to the Lebanese Civil War, but was ineffective. In the war he at first aligned himself with the Lebanese National Movement. He had long good relations with the Syrians.

In August 1978, Imam Musa Sadr and two companions departed for Libya to meet with officials from Qaddafi's government. He and his companions were never heard from again. It is widely believed that he was killed by Qaddafi, but the reason for this has never become known. Libya has consistently denied responsibility, claiming that Imam Musa Sadr and his companions left Libya for Italy. Some others have reported that Imam Musa Sadr remains secretly in jail in Libya. Imam Musa Sadr's disappearance continues to be a major dispute between Lebanon and Libya.

After his disappearance on August 31 Imam Musa Sadr became viewed as a martyr and as the spiritual leader of Lebanese Shi'ites. The Amal Party remains an important Shi'ite organization and looks to Imam Musa Sadr as its founder.

By the way, the life of such a figure like Imam Musa Sadr is so important for Islam's world. For this reason, some countries like Iran and Lebanon are also fallowing the matter of his disappearance and most of Moslems and non-Moslems are waiting for his return.

He co-founded the Social Movement with the Catholic archbishop Haddad (1960), participated in the Islamic-Christian dialogue in 1962,

As far as I KNOW what later became Amal participated very actively in the early days of the civil war along the PLO especially in Chiah,Ras al Dekwaneh and Nabaa........... sadr announced Amal the summer of 75, just before the 4th round, HE later sided with Syria, and was kicked out of Gharbieh to Damascus, when Syria moved into Lebanon to fight the PLO-Jumblat alliance. He was later allowed back in the summer of 76 into Nabaa (after it fell to the LF)by the Lebanese Front, during the honeymoon period between Lebanese Front and Syria…………. qadaffi provided him with weapons and expected him to abide by his policies...he didnt do so and was killed or Moussa Alsadr was Kidnapped by Libya because he was against the Settling the Palies in Lebanon "Tawteen". All the arab are partners in this crimes of Kidnapping Imam Moussa. they were all with it ….it would have really helped the arabs if the palies where settled in Lebanon ……..it was said that he was in the operation room with the members of the kataeb and the lebanese army during the tal-za3tar siege?

A lot of people accuse him of being a two faced beep… he had his milta trained and funded by the plo and then turned on them…..….and he use to go to the christens and say that he was against the Palestinians…..after he disappeared his movement AMAL and his followers blamed the palies and there where a lot of skirmishes between the palies and amal it is said that syira also had a hand in it

Its hard to say if Ghadaffi had a role in his dissapearance. I highly doubt he is alive today but again I do not know. Maybe Ghadaffi ordered his capture and then over time realized that his responsibility in this affair would cause big problems and so he has continued to keep him detained. Who knows.
